Welcome to the Vegetable Pathology Laboratory in the department of Plant Pathology at The Ohio State University. The department of Plant Pathology is one of 12 departments in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University. On this site you will find information on Dr. Sally Miller and her research and Extension programs, courses, the PCR lab, people in the lab and more. Our laboratories are located on the Wooster campus of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center.

Vegetable Pathology at The Ohio State University.

The Ohio State University vegetable pathology program focuses on the biology and management of fungal, oomycete, bacterial, mollicute and nematode diseases of fresh and processing vegetables.

The Miller lab develops management strategies for diseases of vegetables, incorporating concepts of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and agricultural sustainability. The principle crops in the program are tomato, pepper, potato, vine crops and "salad vegetables" grown on muck soils, including lettuce, radish, parsley and onion.

Our program encompasses both conventional and organic vegetable production systems. Research results are transferred to OSU Extension educators and farmers through field days, workshops, conferences, grower meetings, inservices and written material including fact sheets, newsletter and magazine articles, annual reports, and scientific publications.

We are committed to teaching the concepts of plant pathology and contributing to the dynamic educational programming of OSU's graduate and undergraduate studies, through research training, courses (PP685, PP603) and visiting scholar and scientist training.
