History

Originally, maintenance of the "green space" on the OARDC campus was performed by members of the Research Operations Farm Crew.  Then, in 1981, a separate unit within Research Operations was designated as Campus Grounds.  In the Spring of 1984, personnel from the campus and arboretum crews, previously two separate units, merged into one workforce as OARDC Grounds Maintenance; though still a unit of Research Operations.  This both streamlined our duties, and made us more cost effective.  Starting in the Spring of 1996, control of the 2.7 acre Garden of Romance and Legend Roses, previously part of Farm Operations, came under the oversight of OARDC Grounds, bringing this unit to its present day form.
