| Posted August 2002: In an effort to bring air pollution researchers and students together, OAQDA (Ohio Air Quality Development Authority) and the University of Toledo are planning an Air Pollution Symposium. The Symposium will be held at Toledo's SeaGate Conference Centre on October 25, 2002. An invitation to submit abstracts for paper presentations is being announced. Researchers and students are eligible to participate. Please note that the deadline to submit abstracts for the Air Pollution Symposium is September 15, 2002. The American Egg Board is offering two Requests for Applications.
Both have the same due dates for Letter of Intent and receipt of
Applications. Background on Application Number One: Several factors are known to affect egg solids including strain, age of the hen, respiratory diseases, environment, storage conditions, age of the egg, egg size, forced molting, in-line systems, off-line systems and breaking operations. There is a need to gain a better understanding of these factors and their effect on the shell eggs and breaking stock. Proposals should be designed to examine variables affecting egg solids (egg white, yolk and whole egg) of breaking stock. Letter of Intent: Investigators should provide a two page Letter of Intent, stating their intent to submit an application including a general outline of the proposed study design to the American Egg Board no later than July 1, 2003.
Proposal Due Date: The American Egg Board must receive completed proposals no later than August 1, 2003. Notification of funding will be made no later than September 1, 2003 with a start date for funding October 1, 2003.

| USDA, CSREES - Federal Crop Insurance Corporation | Request for Applications (RFA): Community Outreach and Assistance Partnership Program. - In accordance with section 522(d) of the Federal Crop Insurance Act (Act), the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation (FCIC), operating through the Risk Management Agency (RMA), announces the availability of up to approximately $3.5 million in fiscal year (FY) 2003 for collaborative outreach and assistance programs for women, limited resource, socially disadvantaged and other traditionally under-served farmers and ranchers, who produce agricultural commodities covered by the noninsured crop disaster assistance program (7 U.S.C. 7333); specialty crops; and under served commodities (For purposes of this announcement, these commodities are collectively referred to as ``Priority Commodities''). Awards under this program will be made on a competitive basis for projects of up to one year. Recipients of awards must demonstrate non-financial benefits from a partnership agreement and must agree to the substantial involvement of RMA in the project. approximately six new research and evaluation projects in FY 2003. A
total of up to $3,520,000 is expected to be available for these
competitive awards. Applications will be accepted in three priority
areas: (1) Child Care Research Collaboration and Archive (CCRCA); (2)
Evaluation of Promising Models and Delivery Approaches to Child Care
Provider Training; and (3) Child Care Research Scholarship grants.

| DOD | DoD is soliciting applications for FY 2005 funding under the Defense University Research Instrumentation Program. This program seeks to improve the capabilities of U.S. colleges and universities to conduct research and to educate scientists and engineers in areas important to national defense. Approximately $44 million is expected to be available for research equipment grants of up to $1 million. | EPA | EPA's Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP), in coordination with the EPA Regional Offices, is soliciting applications for projects that further the goals of the Pesticide Environmental Stewardship Program (PESP). Eligible applicants include the 50 States, District of Columbia, U.S. Virgin Islands, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, any territory or possession of the United States, any agency or instrumentality of a State including State universities, and all federally recognized Tribes. Under this program, assistance agreements will provide financial support to eligible applicants to carry out projects that reduce the risks associated with pesticide use in agricultural and non-agricultural settings. The total amount of funding available for award in FY 2005 is expected to be approximately $470,000, with a maximum funding level of $47,000 per project. | August 15, 2005 | |
