Bioinformatics System Developer

A bioinformatics system developer position is available at the genomics core facility Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center (MCIC, www.oardc.ohio-state.edu) at The Ohio State University/OARDC in Wooster, Ohio. The successful applicant will implement and develop programs and pipelines, provide input and support the design, selection, development and maintenance of computational tools for genomics data collection and analysis. This position will also entail the maintenance and management of the bioinformatics workstations and servers in the laboratory, providing support for routine data collection, analysis and delivery, and training and supervision of users. Candidates must have experience with Linux, UNIX, Windows and Mac platforms; knowledge of scripting languages such as C, C++, Java, Perl, or Python; experience with databases management and constructions, familiarity with Apache, Tomcat servers; familiarity with computational tools required for genetic databases searches, genome annotations, and whole genome comparisons desired. The minimum education requirement is a Masters Degree in bioinformatics, or biological sciences and bioinformatics, or computational sciences, or an equivalent of experience. Bioinformatics Data Analysis Specialist

The Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center (MCIC, http://www.oardc.ohio-state.edu/mcic/), a genomic core laboratory at The Ohio State University, OARDC (Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center) is seeking to employ a bioinfomatics data analysis specialist who will provide support for routine data collection, analysis and delivery to customers, will implement and test new programs and software packages, will automate tasks for high throughput genomics data collection, analysis and delivery and will help and train user. All projects require the integration of third party software, which is mainly Linux based, newly developed algorithms and scripts, and graphic visualization systems, such as for example the Genome Browser. Candidates must have experience with Linux, UNIX, Windows and Mac platforms; knowledge of at least one scripting languages such as C, C++, Java, Perl, or Python; experience with databases; familiarity with computational tools required for genetic databases searches, genome annotations, and whole genome comparisons desired. The minimum education requirement is a Bachelor Degree in bioinformatics, or biological sciences and bioinformatics, or computational sciences, or an equivalent of work experience.
