This document will guide you through submission of your work to the Ohio State University Knowledge Bank, a repository in which your poster will be available to anyone on the World Wide Web, retrievable through commercial search engines such as Google, and preserved in perpetuity. If you have questions about the Knowledge Bank or the submission process, you may consult the FAQ or contact Connie Britton, OARDC Library (3773; 5-3773 from Columbus).
Once your poster has been submitted, you will receive a permanent web address
in the form http://hdl.handle.net/123456789/99 that will always lead
you to your work in the Knowledge Bank, so keep it handy!
Overview
Submitting your item to the Knowledge Bank (KB) is completed in the following steps:- Make sure you have a PDF version of your poster (on the computer you are using or on a disk - CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, Floppy, Zip, etc.)
- If you have created your poster using PowerPoint, you can generate a PDF using Adobe Acrobat Professional, available on the user computers in the OARDC Library
- If you have CommTech produce your poster, ask Bonnie to also generate a PDF for you.
- Make sure that you have registered with the Knowledge Bank prior to submitting. After registration, notify Connie Britton by email (britton.4@osu.edu) to authorize you for submission. You will not be able to submit your poster until you have been authorized.
- Logon to the Knowledge Bank (https://kb.osu.edu/dspace/password-login)
- Click on Start a New Submission
- Choose Poster Presentations as the collection to which you are submitting.
- Provide information about your poster according to guidelines enumerated below.
General Information
At any time, you may Cancel or Save your submission to start over or for completion in the future.
To access a saved submission, click on My Knowledge Bank in the left-hand navigation bar and enter your email address and password. Your unfinished submission should be listed.

- If your poster consists of more than one file, click in the box.
- Click "Next"
- Enter your last name in first text box.
- Enter your first name and middle initial in second box.
- If applicable, supply suffix instead of middle initial in the second text box.
- If you have co-authors, enter their names in the boxes. Click on Add More for additional boxes.
- Do not enter your advisor's name here - you will enter it later.
- Enter the Last name of your advisor first text box.
- Enter the first name and middle initial of your advisor in second box.
- If applicable, supply suffix instead of middle initial in the second text box.
- If there is more than one advisor, click "add more" to add additional names.
- Enter the title of your work.
- Capitalize only the first word, first word after a colon (if applicable), and proper nouns.
- Select your department(s) from the list.
- To select more than one department, you may have to hold down the "CTRL" or "Shift" key.
- If your department is not listed, select "department is not listed"
- If your department is not in the list , enter your department's name here.
- Choose Presentation from the list.
- Select the language(s) of your work.
- If a significant portion of your work is in another language, please choose the appropriate label from the list.
- Use "CTRL or "SHIFT" key to select more than one language.
- Choose Next
- Enter terms that describe what your poster is about.
- Try to avoid terms that appear in your title, as they are already searchable.
- Please copy and paste or retype the abstract from your poster into the text box.
- If applicable, enter the full names of any sponsors or funding agencies for your research.
- Please do not use acronyms.
- Skip this section - you do not need to fill anything in here
- Click Next
- Click on the Browse button
- Locate the the PDF of your poster on the computer or your disk.
- Click open
- Click Next
- Verify that you chose the correct file and format
- If not, choose the appropriate correction.
- Click Next
- Check the information you provided.
- Look for spelling and other typographical errors.
- If you do find a mistake simply select the corresponding "Correct one of these" box, and correct mistake.
- Then, choose Verify (outlined in red), from top navigation bar or Next until you return to the Verify page.
- Click Next
- This is an option to add a "Creative Commons" License to an item you submit.
- This is NOT required - If you do not want a "Creative Commons" License, select "No" for both questions and click on Skip Creative Commons
- If you own the copyright of the work that you're submitting and you would like to be able to give away some of your rights in order to share your material with others, you may want to choose one or more of the options.
- Several licenses are available to choose from. For more information on Creative Commons see: http://creativecommons.org/
- Read the license agreement. Select I understand the above terms and grant these rights.
- If you have any questions about the license, please contact Knowledge Bank staff at libkbhelp@lists.acs.ohio-state.edu.
- If you do not want to grant the license, select I do not grant these rights. (Your submission will be saved in My KnowledgeBank until you are ready to grant the license)
- Your submission will not be complete until you have granted the license.
- Within two business days, you will receive an email with a permanent web address for your poster
- You will receive an email requesting corrections.
- Once the corrections are made, you will receive a permanent web address for your poster.
