Dr. Paolo Sabbatini, Viticulturist at Michigan State University, will be visiting the OARDC campus for collaborative research and Extension projects with Dr. Imed Dami next week. We would like to use this opportunity to show Dr. Sabbatini OSU research trials in Wooster. The OSU Viticulture & Enology Program would like you to join us at this informal tour of the OARDC research vineyards with Dr. Sabbatini. You will have the opportunity to tour the Vitis vinifera variety evaluation trial to see and taste new varieties tested for the first time in Ohio. Dr. Sabbatini will share his experience with varieties tested in Michigan and his research on canopy management. Not only will you get to taste the grapes, but you have the chance to taste several of the wines as well. Todd Steiner will provide wines from a few of the most promising varieties. Dr. Mike Ellis will join us as well for what likely will be his last harvest prior to retirement. He will provide an update on grape diseases and management, and answer any questions on that topic. Dave Scurlock will show traps for SWD and BMSB and present an update on the newest insects in Ohio vineyards. We understand that it is harvest time and everybody is busy with sampling, picking, and crushing grapes, but we wanted to extend an invitation to our industry and we hope to see you then!
