Accuracy and quality control in the laboratory are basic premises on which the AACC was founded. 
The check sample service provides a service which allows members to check their techniques and 
equipment on a regular basis, to insure quality control.

 a.     Monthly Check Sample services shall be made available to all members located within the 
geographical boundaries of the section without charge. Members located outside the geographical
boundaries of the Section who do not attend any of the Section meetings shall be assesed $100.00 
annually for each check sample service in which he participates. However if said member attends
any of the section meetings, such fees shall be waived.

 b.     Check Sample participants are expected to periodically take a turn in the preparation and 
distribution of the samples. Anyone not able to prepare the sample during the normal monthly 
rotation shall be assesed a $100.00 fee in lieu of prepaparing the sample.

When a member of the section participates in the check sample series, he will recieve a  test sample
once a month, that has been specially prepared by one of the collaborators. The participant performs
specific analysis and returns the results to the person that has prepared the sample. That person will
then provide a statistical evaluation of the analytical results, comparing the individual collaborators'
results. The participant then recieves a report that allows him to see how his results compare with 
those of the other industrial and government labs, in terms of accuracy.

Monthly results are compiled, and at the spring meeting awards are given to the participants with 
the best analysis for the entire year. Awards are given for:

Flour Check Sample: Best Protein Analysis, Best Ash Analysis, Best Moisture Analysis, and Best 
Overall Analysis
